Team Jacob fans, you now have a little more Taylor Lautner to look forward to. In September's Abduction, the 19-year-old actor will be carrying a movie for the first time, playing a young man who must uncover his real identity when he learns that his parents are not really who they say they are. In fact, it appears that his character's "parents" are spies, that he was abducted as a child and that he's now being pursued by government operatives because he's of some immense value to them. Consider our interest piqued, thanks in no small part to the brand-new, thrilling trailer that just hit the Web. Watch the video below!
Lautner is no stranger to showing off his body in his roles, having made a name for himself as the bare-chested teenage werewolf Jacob in The Twilight Saga. And, while we're sure he'll be doing that at some point in Abduction, the film also gives him the opportunity to show off his amazing kung-fu skills as well (he has actually trained in martial arts since he was a young boy).
The role will also allow Lautner to finally get the girl (played here by Taylor's real-life girlfriend Lily Collins, who just nabbed the coveted title role in Snow White opposite Julia Roberts). And it'll give the young thesp a chance to see what his career could be like post-Twilight -- after all, there are only the two installments of Breaking Dawn left.
Lautner has stated that he has "mixed emotions" about the Twilight series ending: "Half of me says, 'This will be a relief. I get some time off, I get to spend some time with family and friends and do other things.' But the other half says, 'This is going to be so weird.'" It will be weird for us, too, Taylor.
In the Abduction trailer, Lautner's character says, "Sometimes I feel different. I walk around like everybody else, but inside I feel like I'm a stranger in my own life." Sounds a little similar to a certain teenage werewolf. Whether you're on Team Edward or Team Jacob (Robert Pattinson has Water for Elephants coming out April 22), it's nice to see the young cast of Twilight capitalizing on the franchise's overwhelming success.
Abduction is slated to hit theaters September 23.
