Score another win for Mel Gibson's ex.
Turns out Oksana Grigorieva will not be charged with extortion, according to RadarOnline. As the romance fizzled and their breakup turned increasingly ugly, Gibson accused Grigorieva of trying to extort millions of dollars from him. Though the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office took a look time looking at the claim, investigators have now come to the conclusion that there is not enough evidence to charge her.
On Friday, "The DA's office will announce that the extortion case was rejected. There wasn't enough evidence to prove that a crime occurred," a source tells the website.
In what also has to be good news for the mother of Mel's baby, Lucia, Gibson is set to enter a plea to a battery charge on Friday admitting that he hit her. "I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality," Gibson stated in a legal declaration. "I did not slap her hard. I was just trying to shock her so that she would stop screaming, continuing shaking Lucia back and forth."
In return for his plea of no contest, he will avoid jail time. His lawyer said that Gibson was innocent and that he would enter the plea to avoid a trial and the accompanying media circus.
Grigorieva has the right to show up Friday to speak at Gibson's hearing to give a victim's impact statement. "But at this point, it doesn't seem likely that she will appear," the source said.
